Geriatrics:
On average your pet ages 5 to 7 years to your one. This means that your 7
year old dog or cat is the "really" 44 to 56 years old, depending
on size.
Through preventative care such as complete physical examinations every 6 to 12
months, routine blood tests, dietary changes and supplements your pet and
companion can live a longer, happier, healthier life.
There are medicines and neutroceuticals to help your aging pet with the
aches and pains of getting older.
Ask one of our doctors at your next visit about preventative care for your
geriatric friend.

Dentistry:
Dental prophylaxis is essential for maintaining healthy teeth and gums. Healthy
pets do not have bad breath. As plaque and tarter form on teeth and under gums,
bacteria collect and multiply. This creates a state of poor oral hygiene that
causes foul mouth odor and is cause for concern. Eventually, gum disease will
develop. More serious health problems, such as heart and kidney disease, may
follow. We offer:
- Thorough teeth cleaning
- Dental X-rays
- Complete dental care
- Assistance with home dental care
- Tartar control diets [back]
Preventative:
A comprehensive physical examination is the basic tool our doctors use to
evaluate your pet's health status and to help you make informed decisions about
the care of your special companion. This is where preventative care begins.
Preventative care is important from puppy and kittenhood all the way through the
golden years. In addition to the physical examination, routine laboratory
tests and vaccinations are important to ensure the health of your
companion. [back]
Radiology Services:
At Arcata Animal Hospital we are equipped with a high
quality x-ray machine and radiograph processor that enables us to have x-rays
available for viewing within a few minutes. Our recently purchased dental x-ray machine allows us to provide additional dental services.
Our technicians are specially trained to use this equipment, and practice with all safety requirements. [back]

access to results. In our in house laboratory our technicians do fecal tests
